At which universities do academics find the best conditions for research? The new 2007 CHE Research Ranking revises its rating of six of the 16 subjects. Includes: Results for sociology/social science.
Six faculties that appeared in the last research ranking in 2002 again figure amongst the universities strong in sociology and social science research - the HU Berlin plus the universities of Bielefeld, Frankfurt a.M., Freiburg, Göttingen and Cologne. The University of Trier only managed two of the six possible top positions, so it no longer appears amongst the leaders. Of the universities with a good reputation amongst the subject's professors, the University of Mannheim and the LMU Munich did not make the leading research group, as they each only secured two top rankings (of the three required).
